Creator: Blare Sethi
Can you tell us a bit about your brand and products and what inspired you to create it?
My business Star Essentials by Blare is home made, natural skincare range and products. I focus on providing high quality natural products whilst using environmentally sustainable practices at an affordable prices.
I also offer reiki and crystal healing treatments.
I started experimenting with making my own products when I was pregnant with my first as I had noticed how much synthetics and toxins were in traditional products (even baby products, which was a huge surprise!).
Over time as my needs changed and my kids needed products for issues, my products grew and grew and people starting asking to purchase them, so my business was born.
I have always had a great interest in spiritual practices and natural healing and love to help others, so in the future i hope to teach reiki and crystals courses and hold workshops on making our own products.
I believe this is my way of helping to raise the vibrations and consciousness of those around me- which is ultimately my life purpose.
What roadblocks and challenges have you encountered while creating your brand and products?
My biggest challenges have been time to create, test and produce new products, while making existing ones.
Also I have faced self doubt ( are my products good enough, is my packaging too simple? etc)
How have you juggled mum life, working and developing products at the same time?
Managing my business whilst being a mum can be a challenge, I converted our spare room into a work place and also set up an area for my kids in the same space. When I’m doing admin or packaging my daughters often do activities books, craft or read
I normally wait until weekends to make products or when my husband is home, so he can look after the children.
I have appointments at night when my husband is home and often when the kids are in bed. My family is my priority and then my business. Thankfully my family is very supportive of what I’m doing.
What’s your biggest motivation for continuing to work on your brand and products?
The biggest motivators is the feedback I receive from customers, when someone loves a product or the products have worked for them is a wonderful feeling.
Particularly when they used conventional products pr medicines before and have now found a natural alternative (that actually works)
Being able to provide some extra money for my family- which often goes towards our homeschooling activities or supporting other mums in small business is a great feeling.
You obviously have amazing work ethic and strive to deliver quality in your brand, what is the biggest lesson you’d like your kids to learn from you?
There are many things I would love my children to learn from me starting my own business- I would love my kids to be able to see that they can make a difference in the world. No matter how small they think it may be, the choices they make in regards to the environment, can have a large impact.
I would like then to understand that healing can be achieved naturally through energy healing modalities and natural products. I found myself as a young woman so dependent on the medical industry and the drugs they provided to mask pain, and it took me years to realise that this was not to way to health or healing
Also to take pride in your work- put in the effort, time and love into your products. Don’t take shortcuts, use the best ingredients, know what’s it important.
Believe in yourself!
What would you tell others who are also looking to create their own product line and brand?
If someone else was wanting to start their own products and brand- I would encourage them to take action and be persistent, even if it takes time time and you are getting few sales- keep going.
If you believe in your brand and your products, people will be attracted to that.
Patience, persistence and positivity!
